I have all of your wonderful books. I keep I hoping you will write a book about Allison, so that he trio from Just as long as We Are Together would all have their own story. Keep writing, as you are timeless.

Your books were the wise women I needed by my side when I was young. Through your stories I felt comforted, recognized, confident and loved. Your characters made me feel good about myself and helped me understand all my inner questions as a girl. You were the one talking about all the themes that interested me when nobody else did. Thank you! I am the woman I am thanks to women like you! I love you!

I've read a few of your books and also read, Are you there god, it's me, margaret. At least 8 times, it was my favorite book for a solid 3 years. I've always loved writing but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas to write longer stories about. I hate hurting my characters so it's really hard for me to come up with conflict. Do you have any advice for me on how to come up with good story ideas?

Dear Judy,
Our fifth grade reading group just finished "Superfudge." We all loved it. We liked the new baby and her nickname, Tootsie. Maybe you could write a book about Tootsie when she is two years old and walking around, and Fudge is in second grade. Thank you for writing such good stories.

Hi Judy, I am a huge fan of yours and read all your young adult books when I was in grade school. I have recently re-read Are You There God and It's Not the End of The World and am in the process of starting a novel. My question is, how do you find your 5th grade "voice" as a writer?
Siena
I read your books and liked them in the past years and I was wondering if I could have a singed autographed photo sent to my house.

Judy:
I wonder why you said that you will never ever write another Fudge book, because my friends and I loves them and everyone wants to read your books. I've personally read Otherwise Known As Sheila the great, Superfudge, Double fudge, and Fudge-A-Maina. Can you PLEASE write another fudge? I mean, I really REALLY want to read fudge books. Hopefully you'll listen to me!
Sincerely,
Hannie

I became a writer because you have made me a reader. I devoured everything you wrote because I could see myself as the main character in every story. I just completed your Master Class and cried right along with you. Once again you made writing real for me and I will be forever a fan and an admirer. Thank you for all the wonderful times I became lost in your adventures. I have reread most of my favourites and they still hold true because they are still real.

I am using you for an author report and your website has a lot of helpful information!!!

Dear Judy,
You have been a constant person in my life, from my first day in an International English speaking school, to now, at 49 re-reading your books with my teenage daughter.
Like many children in the 70s, I was part of a new group of children, expats or what now is coined as, Third Culture Kids. My family moved a lot, going to 9 different schools and learning my share of foreign languages, so books were always a comfort to me.
I remember, like it was yesterday walking the American School in Salvador, Brazil and sitting for story time with Mr. Elliot a tall man with big yellow shoes, and hearing Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. At first it was all gibberish, but soon enough I was fluent to understand your books.
Now I live in the Netherlands, and my children are growing up with three languages, but as soon as my oldest was eleven and fluent enough to read in English, I bought her your books. Unlike other books I have tried to share with her, that somehow seemed to loose their relevance in time, or interest, yours were a hit. She devoured through them; it made me thrilled to be able to share something that was also part of my own childhood with her.
Two years ago, I was in Belmar NJ, visiting friends, and to my surprise there you were in big billboards for your novel In the Unlikely Event. So in that unlikely event, I felt I had to buy it, and read it. Even if it is all far from my reality, and most of these children and adults you write about were growing up in American suburbs, far from most places I live and have lived around the world, your words were always very comforting. In the end growing up and its challenges can transcend boarders. Thank you! ☺

Dear Judy: A coworker of mine shared w me your book "Deenie". I wish this book had been around when I was 12 yrs old and a newly diagnosed scoliosis patient ("S" curve). At the age of 13 I underwent a spinal fusion and spent 11 months in a body cast. Medical advances have improved and I am glad girls today have a shorter recovery time. 50 years later, I am still doing ok. In some ways I thank that period of life as it makes me not take physics mobility for granted and inspires me to keep up exercising. I enjoy aqua exercise, cycling, hiking and tap dancing. I am close to retiring from a career in Nursing. The care I received inspired me to become a nurse. Thank you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you! As I grew up I loved your books and now I am a mom and my daughter is reading them. She had to do a Biography report on someone and she picked you! Today she went to school as you to explain to her class all about you and YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS. We learned so much about you. From reading Freckle Juice and now she is reading OTHERWISE KNOWN AS SHEILA THE GREAT. Just a little favor I am not sure you can send me a email address or some how message me for info to be sent for a autograph. It would make her day to know she got something in the mail from you to show her class.

Thank you Judy, on behalf of girls and women, for braving changing the status quo, a fierce supporter of non-censorship, for giving us new role models from your characters who became our friends.

Hello Judy! I can't believe I'm 61 years old and didn't realize you grew up in Elizabeth! I did too, as you can see from above. I just began regarding "In the Unlikely Event" and already I am enthralled with the references to Goerke's, Levy Brothers, Battin and Jefferson. (I graduated from Battin in 1974...to me always a travesty that it was all girls). Anyway, I'm so excited to begin this journey with your book! Thanks for the Elizabeth memories!

Ms. Blume - having long admired you, and having many, many women of all ages, and our daughters, friends, nieces, etc. cherish your work, I want to know if you would consider coming to the Twin Cities to do a presentation to raise money for Firefly Sisterhood, a nonprofit dedicated to matching women newly diagnosed with breast cancer with women who had a similar diagnosis and come out the other side. In three years we've made 600 personal, one-to one matches - but we need to go state-wide with this vital service, at the least, and for that we need funds - hence having you as a speaker and thus raising money to expand our services to every woman in MN and beyond. Thank you for considering our query.

Dear Judy:
Many more happy and healthy birthdays!
I had the pleasure of meeting you during your In the Unlikely Event Tour. As a member of your first generation of readers I laughed out loud when you mentioned that you've been asked to write a book about Margaret going through menopause.
As I get older my memory isn't what it used to be. I however remember reading so many great authors as a child-you of course, Beverly Cleary, Roald Dahl, E.B. White. You especially gave me the gift of reading which has carried me through the ups and downs of life.
Enjoy your 80th birthday. Thanks for the impact you've had on generations of readers.
Fondly,
Anne

Happy Birthday, Judy Blume! And thank you for all the fun reading bait you supplied me with throughout my career as an elementary school teacher. Every single child I ever taught caught the reading bug from listening to me read your Fudge books aloud to them. Fudge and his friends and family reached them all: the overly busy boys, the timid little girls, the boisterous loud talkers, the brainiacs, the "school is boring" contingent, the English as a Second Language students, the learning disabled, the jocks in training, the reluctant readers and ME! I never tired of reading your books aloud. The more I read them, the more I loved them. Fudge was just so funny! He cracked me and my listeners up all the time. So thank you from me and all the students Fudge inspired to become independent readers. And maybe even potential future writers...

I just learned today that you are a fellow Aquarian! I first read Are You There, God...? when I was in fourth grade. I was hooked. You have been one of my favorite authors for over 30 years. Thank you for sharing your beautiful imagination with us and for all you do to fight against censorship. Happy Birthday!

When I was a little girl, maybe 10 years old or so, I wrote to you after reading your book, and you wrote a letter back! Yes, snail mail, real letter! I just want to let you know how much that meant to me as a little girl. ...and now, as I reminisce, I have tears in my eyes. So, many years later, I just want to say thank you.
And, after listening this morning on NPR... Happy Birthday!
Michelle
Happy Birthday Ms. Blume!
I still have one of your books from when I was 12!

Happy Birthday, Judy. Today, February 12, would have been my mother's 110th birthday but she died at age 72. Like you, I straddle many eras where women were kept ignorant about their own bodies. But, we persevered. I continue to do so as well, in memory of my talented and intelligent mother who, despite my having battled on her behalf, was denied education, medical and psychiatric care from adolescence to old age, including after the birth of her last child when she was 44.
If she could know that her only daughter at age 82 and her younger son at age 65 were in the process of trying to develop a TV series together ... what a kick she would have.
At 12, I was a confused, unhappy, very intellectual and sensitive child. It took a long time to lose the confusion and unhappiness. Thank you for helping girls on the edge of puberty to appreciate themselves as valuable, achieving and, in years soon to come, lovable women.
Happy Birthday, Judy! Blow out those candles with gusto.

Dear Judy,
I wanted to tell you that I love your MasterClass. It is thoroughly enjoyable. Also, it was weird that I glanced down while I was on my stationary bike, a bike I ride nearly every day. And there was your book, Summer Sisters! It had been there for several years. I freaked and naturally, I dusted it off. I've now started reading it. You'll have to forgive me. My housekeeping isn't the best (and it was in the basement!). My mother had received it from my Aunt Rae and it found its way to my possession. Anyway, although I'm already 54, I'm eagerly writing and finishing up my first novel. Take care,
RuthM

Dear Judy Blume,
I recently read your book: Are you there god? It's me, Margaret. Once I read it the first time, I had to read it again and again. I think it really speaks to kids my age. Also, I want to be an author when I grow up. Thanks for inspiring me.

Dear Judy,
As a pre-teen in 1980, I was a huge fan. My favorite remains "Are You There God? It's me Margaret". Sadly to say, I was shy and chubby. My 5th grade class used Blubber as a "manual" to do to me everything they did to the overweight girl in the book. Obviously, not all "awareness" efforts have their desired effect. They can backfire with horrific consequences if the readers aren't given guidance via reflection and discussion. I hope to God today the book is "studied", and not merely read, by pre-teens.

Dear Judy Blume,
I read with interest your comments on censorship and couldn't agree with you more. Having been raised by parents who never minded what I read and encouraged me and my siblings to read everything, I find censorship as annoying today as I did when I first understood what it meant.
Your books have meant so much to me for over 35 years. I kept my well-worn, tattered and beloved paperback copies of everything you wrote, knowing I would pass them to my daughter someday. She's just about there.
I have always wanted to tell you how much I loved-and still love-your stories and characters and am so grateful your books were around for me to devour. I have re-read them all dozen of times, and always find something new, probably because I am getting older and see them through maturing eyes, but the memories I have of being a pre-teen, a teenager and beyond, reading your books for the first time and finding the characters instantly relatable is a wonderful stroll down that lane.
Thank you and sending you much xoxo and admiration!

Dear Judy,
I am reading In the Unlikely Event and I love this book. In the book there is a designer of stocking that you added and I looked her up on www.google.com and I found the stockings on www.ebay.com I think this is so neat. I have read your kids books for many years. I don't know how many times I read Super Fudge but I loved it. PS. You are my favorite Author. Take Care.
Sincerely,

Hello and greetings, Mrs. Blume. I don't know if it is an odd occurrence that a parent comments to you through this website, let alone one whose school-age children have since reached adulthood, but I am here nonetheless. In truth, I seek your knowledge as I am searching for a book title, that I am hopeful you may remember, as it was written about 1980ish. It is a preteen to young adult fictional story about the death of a sibling. It centers around the older of two siblings, a early teen girl, with her younger brother having a terminal illness. Mom and Dad are supporting characters, but forgive me that I do not remember any of the principle character names; only the premise of the story.
I know I am asking a lot but I have fervently tried every other resource I am aware of, with no fruit for my efforts. I figure a successful author who wrote through the 1970s - 1980s and who continues to write today, would remember the works of a fellow colleague or competitor.
By the way, thanks for Blubber. It was my first story about bullying I have ever read and remains the best.
Kindest personal regards to you!

great book series!

Dear Judy,
Thank you for your books, they are wonderful.
No other writer has ever had the ability to completely capture and transport me the way you do. I think you are magic and I am grateful for your stories. I have never been able to be so completely absorbed in a story as I have with yours.
I have just re-read Tiger Eyes some 35 years after the first time I read it!! It is incredible how a book can be so timeless and yet remain as relevant and fresh. The fact that your stories can traverse the young and the not-so-young like me is a true testament to your writing.
Summer Sisters is my favourite book ever.
Thank you.
Kindest Regards and Best Wishes to you xx
