Ms.Blume,

I don't remember which of your books was my first, but I do remember searching the "B" shelf at my school library every time I was there. I also remember the first time I handed a Judy Blume book to my daughter and anxiously waited to see her fall in love with the same book I did so many years ago.

I also remember reading your books and knowing that I wanted to be a writer some day. At some point, I gave up the dream of being a "real" writer, though I never gave up the habit of writing.

It wasn't until I went back to school in my late 30's to finish up my BA that I was finally given the push I needed to make my dream a reality. Today I am in the MFA program at UNLV studying creative writing with an emphasis in fiction. I just wanted to thank you for making me fall in love with books so many years ago.

Mrs. Blume, you are the most iconic author of my youth. I think I read every single book you wrote. I also loved all of the Encyclopedia Browns, Great Brains and Alfred Hitchcock and 3 Investigators if you still paying attention. Anyway, I cite you as my favorite author EVER and I was traveling to Key West in December (13-16) for a few days and as I have never been there I was reading up on the Island and it's history and well it's a tiny Island and you live there!!!! If you are still there I would DIE to shake your hand for 3 minutes!!! My fantasy football team name is "Are You There Roulley? It's Me Gaelen. As a tribute to your book and the fact that Gaelen Kash has never won a fantasy football championship!!! Love, your best friend and the bravest policeman to ever live Mark

Dear Judy Blume, my stomach used to hurt every night, until I started reading your books. I listen to them on audiobook every night. I've listened to them so much, I can do the exact voices. "Peter, go and SCRUB your hands!" Double Fudge is my favorite. From, your #1 fan, Olivia Y. Age 10

Dear, Judy Blume
I can relate to blubber because people made fun of me one year because they said I was you know what. But the girl that did it pretended she was my friend one day and my enemy the next. I don't talk to her anymore.
Right now I'm reading your book Fudge-a-Mania. I love how you made Peter call Sheila "The Queen of the Cooties." My little sister is just like Fudge. She's going through a phase right now where she steals my food. I get really annoyed with her sometimes!!!!!

Hi judy a couple of questions

1) what is your genre of preference?

2)why do you like to write the genre you chose above and can you tell me about it's characteristics and practitioners?

3)can you tell me about your historical period or about an ideological movement?

thank you judy.

Dear Mrs. Blume,
My reading group just read Tales Of a Fourth Grade Nothing. We really enjoyed it. I have a question. Does Tales Of a Fourth Grade Nothing somewhat relate to what your life was as a kid? Can you relate to one of the characters like Fudge Shelia Peter, Jimmy or Mr.and Mrs. Hatcher?
I relate to Peter because my sister will act like Fudge, and I will get mad. Sometimes I worry about her. I loved your book. I could picture everything you wrote in my mind. I felt like I was at a movie.

Dear Judy Blume,

First off what I would like to say is your book "forever" is by far the best book ever that I have read.I really dislike reading and this book is the first one I read in one day and that I could not put down. I think im going to read the next book if I can find it, since this book was so good! I can really relate to this book a lot and I really think a lot more people should read it. I grew up on reading your books and I belive that they are the most eye catching ones and only books I will actully read. I hosestly really think you are such an amazing author and by far the best one out there. I just wanted to say thank you for making reading easier and a lot more fun for me.

I am a longtime teacher in the Denver Public Schools. Last night, a friend shared a testing letter that you and many others had sent to President Obama. I just wanted to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart for signing the letter. I love, love, love, love teaching and can't imagine ever doing anything else. At the same time, I HATE what it's become- where all we do is test and test and test and test and then test some more. I hate that I have to fight for time to read to kids, and write with them, and share stories. And then if I protest, I am told that I'm not rigorous, not progressive, don't care about kids' learning. I really appreciate people like you taking up the torch. Thank you so much!

Thank you for standing up for our children and signing the letter to President Obama against standards based teaching and testing. As a teacher I have seen the damage testing has done and have left teaching to fight against it. Your love for our children is priceless. I hope you will continue to voice your opposition and support those fighting against Common Core and the mindless testing that goes with it.

Dear Ms. Blume,
I love your books...especially Tales of the 4th Grade Nothing. Fudge is really funny, and Peter can be a little over dramatic. We used Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing to make a movie for our Film Festival. It is called Tales of a Library Nothing. You can see it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYRU6GZuVZc We would love for you to watch it and tell us what you think!

Hi, my name is Abbie. I am 8 years old and my mom"s name is Tina. She has been reading your books since she was a little girl and she got me into your books. She was not into reading books until she found your books. One of her teacher's read "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" to the class. They helped her learn to enjoy reading and she hoped it would do the same for me. They have! When I grow up, I hope your books will still be out to read so that my kids can have a laughing sensation, too. Thank you for giving me a great time with my mom! I hope to hear back from you. Have a good day!

Dear Judy, I'm having a blast re-reading your books with my 9-year old. I laughed so hard at Fudge my husband thought I had gone crazy. What a treat to still enjoy your books and also view from an adult perspective. As much as I loved your books as a kid, and boy did I love them, I don't think I truly realized how much of an impact they had on me until now--memories are flooding back rapidly! Thank you for sharing your talent. My only complaint?-I was shocked when Peter wanted an MP3 player and a laptop for Christmas in the new edition of TOA4GN! Those didn't exist in the 80's! LOL Best, Deana in KY

Hi Judy!
I just finished re-reading Are you there God? It's me Margaret. I must have been in my teens (obviously haha) when I first read it and I still enjoyed it this time, (I plan to read Deenie again next). Of course I see things a little differently than I did twenty years ago and I also have a teen of my own now, so being a mother changes the way you look at things as well ...but your books are truly timeless.
Thank you!
