My father Donald passed away on 8/10/2017. In my eulogy, I spoke about how my father and my grandfather were among the first to arrive at the airplane crash at the Orphanage. My dad never spoke about it, but we know from newspaper accounts that they pulled survivors from the wreckage. I'm very proud that my dad and Grandpa were heroes.

Hello Judy!
This past year I came across a big tub of all my journals from growing up. I had an overwhelming feeling run over me as I read each one word for word. Immediately I knew I had to write a book. I am a visual artist and writing a book has never crossed my mind, but I knew I had to write on the struggles and consequesnces as a child of divorce during my preteen and teenage years. My heart has always turned to mush when talking about those early teenage days. I have written most of my first draft in a "journal" type format and have been trying to decide what genre I fit into exactly. Someone recommended to me your young and impressionable character Margaret and now in my adult years I am reading Are You There God? It's Me Margaret, for the first time. I am thoroughly enjoying it! You inspire me with your honesty! Reading through your website has me believing we were very similar in our beginning stages. I have always been a big dreamer...on ideas and just a space off daydreamer. HA! I get the feeling people think the idea of me writing a book is a waste of time, but I can't help but believe the complete opposite. I have a truckload of confidence in this book and I hope when it is published that it can reach as many teens and adults so that the perspective of a young child of divorce can be spoken, understood, and appreciated. I have many hopes and dreams for this book beyond its words, but I have no idea where to start at getting it out there. What kind of publisher to pursue, etc. I do not have a mentor, connections or knowledge of where to start with this sort of thing.
Thank you for your vibrant books! I am not sure why I did not read your books as a child, but reading them as an adult gives me all the feels.

Dear Ms. Blume,
I hold you in tremendous esteem and I have read all your books - for kids and adult alike. "Wifey" is my number one favorite book of all time. I feel funny telling people this because of the explicit nature of some of the text. But it's not because of the sex scenes that I love the book. Rather it's the brilliant dialogue, and the incredible way in which it captures a time and place in America. The book fascinates me - what it says about women, marriage, racial relations, the suburbs, and the socio-economic and political realities of late sixties to 1970 America. I would say I have the book memorized at this point, and it is always on my nightstand. I find it endlessly thought-provoking but also great fun to read. Thank you for this gem, and all your other works. Summer Sisters is brilliant as well, as are all your children's book. I hope you continue to write new books.

His reading really took a big leap as we went through this series! He is wondering if you'll write another Fudge book?! My second is when the went to Hamburger Heaven and smeared mash potato all over the wall. The whole book is just very great. The whole class laughed and giggled. It is the best book I have ever read.
