Good Luck on your battle with breast cancer....your book Are you there God it's Margaret was one I passed on to my daughter...books like this fueled my ongoing love of reading...in fact I still have my copy of it....

I grew up on your books. When my daughter started reading, I started her on your books. She just had to read them. I am sorry to hear about your recent illness. Technology has come so far, would of never imagined as a child I would be dropping you a note. I am actually sending the Judy Blume a note. Your books were a very special part of my childhood . You are going to be fine and everthing you touch will continue to turn to gold. You are a damn good writer. Will buy for my daughters daughters (when they have some). b

I just wanted to sent you the same hug and reassurance that your books gave me.

I just read about your diagnosis and was moved to write. You were a wonderful companion for my oldest son and brought up subjects that we needed to talk about and did because of your books. I pray that you fly through this trial and can move on with your life soon.

Hi Judy, your blog post touches me as I feel I know you through your books ( a common trait of your fans, I'm sure). Your decision to act quickly is the best way to face cancer, I believe. I am a 13 year survivor with a nine year old son (born after my chemo) who LOVES Your Fudge books and I think wishes he had a loud , fun family like Fudge. Love and best wishes to you always, and lucky us that you will keep writing. Leslie from Key West

Thanks for sharing your breast cancer story. I too am a breast cancer survivor! I am 4 years cancer free and looking forward to a long life. Mine was also estrogen receptive and I am on Arimidex for 5-7 years. I have good days and great days, but God has promised me no bad days. I had double mastectomy and reconstruction and, like you, are small framed and now I am proud to own actual C-cup bras instead of AA. Lol. Without family, faith, friends, and fun (my "f words" as I refer to them) and God I would not be here. I am adding you to my prayer list and I know He will bless and take care of you.
Your sister in pink!!! Jan

Mrs. Blume,
I just read about your battle with breast cancer and wanted to say that you are in my prayers. I have been a huge fan of yours since I was eleven years old and cannot wait to introduce my daughter to your books. My sons love the Fudge series. Thank you for being such an integral part of my adolescence and I pray you get through this difficult time with little suffering and a healthy outcome. God bless!

I grew up on your books, shared them with my students over my 22 years of teaching and nowmy daughter who is 12. I loved and learned so much from your books. I dream of going to NYC some day to see all the things I read about in your books growing up. I am praying for you and sending positive thoughts your way. Your BC story moved me so much I had to post here, you are a key element in my formation. Hugs!

Mrs. Blume,
I'm a huge fan going back 35 years. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 36. It felt surreal to hear the words "breast cancer" and it's still hard to cope with the consequences of the therapies used to conquer it.
I just wanted you to know that you will get through this...ask for help, accept the generosity of others, listen to yourself and your body, and do something nice for yourself everyday, even if it is just buying a lipstick or taking a nap.
Best wishes and prayers.
Tracy
I wanted to add, I had skin cancer surgery last summer at Roswell Park in Buffalo. A LOT less scary than what you have gone through. But just THAT WORD is so hard to handle. I think I will pick up one of your books tonight.
Tracy
I just read about your breast cancer. As usual, you wrote about it in a way that would help people. Descriptive and useful and thoughtful. My prayers are with you! I wrote you about 3 years ago and you answered. I wanted to show it to my now 15 year old daughter, whom I passed you books on to. A huge stack sits in her bookcase surrounded by various classics and L'Engle, The Twilight Series, Hunger Games, "Holes", Harry Potter. Also I put a few of my favorites in her bookcase- "The Little Girl Who lives Down the Lane" by Laird Koenig and Lace and LaceII (by Shirley Conran). Yours, are all together in the center though. Those for young adults and newer ones for adults. I owe you so much. I was awkward and shy in elementary and middle school, and I read your books at lunch. Thank you again, so much.

I said a prayer for you after reading the people.com article about your health. I grew up watching my family read & I read all of your books that were in our neighborhood library. Thanks for sharing your talent. As a girl, I turned the pages of your books and was always satisfied with the endings. Now that I'm an adult, I wish I had more time for PLEASURE reading which is still a favorite pastime.

Sending out big love and well wishes to Judy Blume, my literary icon, I learned everything about love, life and being a girl from her, she's now battling Breast Cancer. She always made me feel like everything was going to be alright, I wish I could do the same for her. this was my FB post today... too long for twitter.

Just read about your situation with breast cancer and just a prayer for you and your family. I can not begin to tell you how many of your books have come through our doors and how many different states. Kids are all grown now but with 8 grandkids your books will continue to be a part of our house. In Christian Love and Peace, akgrnd3

Ms. Blume,
Thank you for your thoughtfulness in sharing your story. My story is about the same as yours with a couple of differences. I am 53 and made the decision to have a double mastectomy and am 10 days post op. I'm thankful our care providers supply us the information and encourage us to make our own decisions.
When we share our stories, I hope it serves as a reminder to our sisters to keep up on their exams and mammograms.
Jan
Ms. Blume: Just want to say even at 50...I remember staying up most of the night finishing "Are You There God It's Me Margaret" while in the 6th grade. To this day...I believe it is what helped me get through those crazy pre-teen years. Thanks for helping so many kids around the world throughout your many amazing years of writing. God be with you through this journey..we are all here praying for you as well.

Hi Judy,
I still remember reading "Are you there God..."
I was in elementary school. I went on to read every one of your books with earnest and loved them all. They helped shape who I am today.
I have shared your books with my own daughter as a right of passage, she is now 12,and she loves them just as much as I do. My friends and I still make references to those tender pages. You have given little girls so much with your words and I love you for it.
Thank you so much.

Thank you, Miss Blume, for all your cougar and honesty. I have always wanted you to know, that while I lived in Santa Fe, you were living there as well. Somehow I felt honored to be in the same town with you; your books gave me a reason to learn to read. I am dyslexic and reading was not something that I did for fun, you changed that for me. In the 70's there was no such thing as dyslexia, many thought I just had a low IQ; not so then, nor now. Thank you for your brain, talent, and being able to create books aimed at a young girl like me. You played a great part in my life, I hope that blessings rain down upon you. You did that for me. God Bless and good health on your side. I pray under the moon every night, know that I have added you to my list. Silly maybe, but you helped me become the person I am today, I read all the time know. What a gift you gave me.
Lisa
Judy,
I grew up in England devouring your books and now I live in America with two young daughters and I can't wait to re read your books with them. You taught me more than my own mother. Thank you!!!!! XXXX Lisa

Just a note to say "Good health to you." Celebrate the wonderful person you are. And thanks for allowing us to see a small window into your life. Stay strong. Sincerely, Amy

Judy,
I just now saw the story of your recent cancer diagnosis on Yahoo and clicked on the link to your blog.
I grew up reading your books and now my two teen daughters, ages 19 & 15, have read them as well.
I am a 11-year cancer survivor and I wish you all the best luck in your recovery.
I loved the title of your latest blog entry - !@#$% Happens. Isn't that the truth? My husband passed away suddenly on May 10, 2012 at age 52 and I'm still trying to understand why.
This summer our pastor said in a sermon that sometimes you do everything right, and life still sucks. Well, he used the work "stinks" instead of sucks, but you get the idea.
I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. And I will now follow your blog as well!

Your books were so important in my youngest daughters life when I separated from her father in the early 80's. Your work provided her with some concept that her family was not the first nor only family to go through separation, and it gave her solace, and some terms of reference for dealing with her devastating experience....Many thanks for your wonderful work.....

Good blessings to you Ms. Blume during your procedure and recovery. Just found your blog; and your website is very insightful, inspiring and fun. I can't wait to read some Judy Blume books.

Thank you for your recent Sept 5th blog !@#$ happens. It led me to your blog and brought up fon memories of reading on of my all time favorite book, "Are you there God, It's Me Margaret". Coming from a household where parents did not talk about "sensitive" topics. This book validated things I was feeling as a tween and helped me to explore further on my own.
My prayers go out to you as you continue to affect the world!

Hello from a Sister Survivor,
You do not know how I and so many others appreciate your courage to share your cancer experience. I got through mine with a little denial, lots of love, prayers, good doctors and CoQ10 which I still take 12 years later. I hope you get to your castle retreat soon, whether it is in Italy or some other place of quiet inspiration.
Gentle hugs, and some distance Therapeutic Touch, Henna

Dear Judy,
I never blog but wanted to thank you for all the story-based love and support you have given so many people over the years. May it come back to you 1000 times over and keep you strong on the hard days. I can't wait to introduce my 18 month old daughter to the books I read so many times when I was growing up. My mum has stage 4 breast cancer but she's strong and funny and an amazing grandmother and is doing absolutely great. We feel lucky every day. Lots of love to you!

Hello Ms. Blume,
I was deeply saddened to learn of your illness, but I am glad you are making a speedy recovery. Your book Tiger Eyes is by far the best book I have ever read, and I have read many books in my life. That book will always hold a special place in my heart and I felt that you should know what an impact you have made on so many people with your writing. Thank you for that, and again, I hope that you get well very soon.
Steven
I heard you are recovering from surgery and want to wish you well. I don't remember many of the books I read as a kid, but I remember yours. I can't wait to introduce them to my sons. I hope you recovery quickly and well.

Judy
Hope you're doing well. As one of my dear friends said to me a couple years ago -- "cancer sucks" --pretty much says it all. You have always been such a source of joy and inspiration to readers and your fellow writers -- and in particular to young people growing up and needing to know that they are not alone. Hang in and write some more. Know that lots of fans are sending good vibrations to you. Love, Jane -- a fan from B-more.

Judy, I've been meaning to write you a thank you note for a few years. (Okay, since I was 9. Which is more years than I will ever admit.) I have actually written you several thank you notes at various stages of my life, but they ended up over-empassioned or just kind of stupid. I didn't want to come off like some weird stalker (at worst) or overzealous fan (at best) so those notes were never sent. (You're welcome.)
But now, after all these years, I am saying thank you, in a public forum, for once again telling us girls, showing us girls, how to deal with the weird and awkward stuff that happens to girls. I am (once again) inspired, comforted and educated by your words.
I am so sorry for your ordeal and huge hopes for a speedy recovery.

Hi Judy Blume,
I had to write after hearing that you were going through a great test. I wanted to thank you for picking up the pen and writing books- You were my first author- you taught me to love books. My prayer is that God bless you and sustain you and answer your prayers.

Ms. Blume,
To say your books influenced my childhood would be the understatement of the century. I conned my dad into buying me a 1940's bedroom set at a farm auction when I was 14 so I could have a mirror like Sally J. Freeman. I still hear your words narrating events of my life. So I wanted to hear your words when I read about your cancer diagnosis . As usually you were funny, honest and poignant.I wish you a speedy recovery.

Judy... I am so sorry to hear that you were dx with breast cancer but I know you will handle it like a pro its just one of life's many journey's!! Just read about your breast can cer diagnosis and surgery. I am a three year survivor. Off and on bald, off and on fatigued, off and on just plain pissed off about it, but still standing! You have the best tool for fighting this - a great sense of humor (along with good docs, supportive husband and all the other tools we use). I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Ms. Blume,
I just read your blog posting about your battle with cancer. Thank you for sharing your story with us -- you have always shown such courage through your writing, which has meant so much to so many of us.
Wishing you greater strength each day.

Dear Ms. Blume,

Thank you for your wonderful books! I will pass them on to my daughter when she is old enough.

I was shocked to learn about your cancer diagnosis. I am currently living with cancer and I wanted to let you know that you will be in my prayers. "Superfudge" was and is one of my favorite books. I know it by heart! I have passed it on to ALL of the kids in my life. It was the first book that I bought on my own at the age of 9. I still have it.You have given countless hours of enjoyment to so many people! Thank you for that! God Bless you and your family.

Dearest Judy~
So glad to be able to tell you, what a wonderful writer you are and how you have inspired, encouraged, and amused me over the years!!! Your entertaining writing has helped to define my own life, also.
I still love to read your books, (being old lady that I am now!) After many years I have been pursuing teaching folks how to read and write because of the great joy I receive from reading books such as yours. I also work part time as a teacher, and love I children of all ages! You have so much kind insight into a child's heart.
You are in my prayers now and I will check on your wonderful website to update...
I am so sorry about the breast cancer but think you have handled this with wisdom and honesty- as usual.
With sincere admiration- Carrie

Hi Judy. I heard about your BC from a friend on facebook. Three years ago I went through almost the same thing, DCIS, Stage 0, found by mammogram and confirmed by sonogram. I had the lumpectomy and radiation after going off the HRT the day of surgery. It was only one week from diagnosis to surgery, though. I'm doing well now, other than the fibromyalgia I've battled for years anyway.
Our stories about the cancers (I had the cervical cancer the same way too) are almost identical. It's amazing that people go through things thinking they are the only ones sometimes. I did. I had my hysterectomy when I was 38, went on HRT. Then the breast cancer at 52.
I don't know if yours will do this but I had my first hot flashes after the surgery, then they stopped. Then they came back again this year! I was very surprised. I talked to my doc and he put me on Black Cohosh, an herbal that is non-estrogen and that has helped. He told me that it was probably the estrogen in my fat cells releasing after all these years. So don't be surprised if it creeps up on you again, it does that sometimes.
I remember your books when I was a teen. I've had my kids reading them and now grandkids reading them. We were blessed, we have 4 kids and now 9 grandkids between 17 and 3. And all of them readers. I am a reviewer for Paranormal Romance Guild and I'm now working on my first book.
Good luck.
