If good thoughts matter and they do, you will sail through this challenge. Mine are with you and George. Did not know you had a blog. Now will reconnect with you regularly.

We left Manhattan in 2009 at the request of our youngest son who wanted us to help care for his expected children.Have two grandsons here, care for them two days a week. Old, creaky, but life is grand. I wish the same for you.

Hi Judy,
I just read that you are a double cancer survivor. I also had a hysterectomy for cervical cancer and a lumpectomy with radiation and chemo for breast cancer. If I had known how it would affect me, I would have chosen a bilateral mastectomy. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
blessings,
Terri

Thank you for such an amazing blog post. I grew up reading your books, as so many did. As it happens, I just had a prophylactic mastectomy last week as I am BRCA2+. I've had my results for 2 1/2 years, and just now was in a place where it was possible to have my surgery. I've been annoyed by the drains and the discomfort, but haven't regretted my surgery. Your post is a good reminder that I made the right choice for myself, I don't doubt that. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as you work on your recovery, and I am confident you will have a good outcome. Even though it's been decades since I first read your children's/teen books, I hold you dear to my heart as one of my favorite authors. I can't wait to have my daughter read them, or read some of them together, when my own girl gets a bit older. Please keep fans updated and know we hold you near and dear in our hearts.

Dear Judy,
Just read about your diagnosis of breast cancer and felt the need to write to you. I was diagnosed at the age of 34 and went through lumpectomy, reexcision, mastectomy and reconstruction as well as 6 months of chemo. It's a rough battle as 10 years later it came back in my bones. Just wanted to offer my support, if you ever need someone, I'm here for you--you have my email address. Hugs, Lisa

Ms. Blume,
I grew up on your books, they were the stories of my childhood and now I am passing them on to my nieces. I heard of your recent battle with Breast Cancer and I too am a member of the club. I am 5 months post-surgery, just finished 12 weeks of chemo, getting ready to start radiation and am on a yealy three week dose of Herceptin for HER2+ cancer. Your humor and candor about your cancer struggles make me realize even more why I appreciate you as an author and why your books meant the world to me as a child and as an adult. You know how to tell a story and make it relevant and I cannot wait to share your stories with future generations! Good luck with your cancer battle and continued success in writing.

Hi Ms. Bloom! My mom had breast cancer, a very severe kind. I am happy to say that a year later, she is healthy and happy. You can do it! All your fans believe in you, especially me! Fight hard, because we will be by your side!

My first book I ever read was Freckle Juice. I still love it, and read it sometimes with my mom.

Just read of your diagnosis and treatment plan for breast cancer. Had the same diagnosis and treatment 22 years ago next month. Today I'm a healthy, happy retired teacher and grandmother of 8. YOU CAN DO IT, TOO! Advice from one survivor to another...find a support group of survivors and indulge in primal screams now and then. (in a secluded place or someone might call 911)
While I'm here, thank you for the joy your books brought to my students. You're in my prayers.

Hi Judy,
Just wanted to say that you are my favorite author of all time, for kids, young adults and adult reading! I am sorry to hear about your cancer and what you have been through. So glad that you seem to be doing well. I am an oncology nurse in illinois for the last 16 years. I work in an infusion clinic and radiation md office, in a cancer center. Just wanted to validate your words of not having any risk factors, genetics, smoking, etc, etc. We are seeing so much of this type of breast cancer in women as early as 20s to 90s. Many women, like you, simply don't have risk factors, and yet still get this disease. Also, thanks for the public service announcement to all that with dense breasts, get checked. Thanks! Amy

I met you many years ago at one of the Claremont Reading Conferences held at Scripps College. You were very open and honest with me regarding my writing and I cherish the brief moment that I had with you (and after all of these years, it is the only thing that remains with me about that field trip!). I just want to say may God's healing be with you. As a stage 4 cervical cancer survivor (5 yrs now!), I know the road is very bumpy but through Christ, we can claim the victory over cancer! Just know that you have made a major impact (in a very good and profound way!)on the little girl who grew up to be the woman that I am today-THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!

Ms. Blume,

Hello, my name is Andrew Jacobs and I am one of the millions of people who grew up on your books when I was in elementary school in the early 1980s. I just heard about your summer battle with breast cancer and I just wanted to say that I am so happy to hear that you have made a full recovery from it. My mother passed away in 2007 after an 8 and a half year battle with leukemia, so cancer (and those who become afflicted with it) is something that touches me very deeply.

May you live for a long, long time to come.

Respectfully Yours,

Andrew Jacobs

Blessings to you, Ms. Blume. Although I was older than the demographic for your books (when they were originally publishe, lol), I read them and gave them to my nieces and friend's children. When my daughter came along, I made sure I had a complete set for her. Your books encourage mothers and daughters to talk and learn from each other. Thank you for that.

I'm glad to hear that you are doing well after your surgery. Early detection is key! My thoughts and best wishes for continued good health are with you and your family.

Once every several years when I have an evening to myself, I will pick up Forever and read it in one sitting. You are amazing.

Hello Judy~
I just saw an article today stating you have joined "The Club" of breast cancer survivors.
I, too, am a member of that club for 13+ years now and felt compelled to jot a note off to you. I want to wish you well in your life's journey (which now includes your cancer journey)! I would never wish any form of cancer or any illness on anyone, but, crazy as it may sound, I would not have wanted to miss the experience of my own journey. It made me who I am and I cherish that. Each day can be a blessing if we allow it to be!

I want to say "thank you" from the depths of my heart for the wonderful books you've so eloquently written! I remember reading and loving them so when I was younger! A friend and I were just talking on Friday about your books and that we should have a "Judy Blume read-a-thon"! I just pulled out and dusted off all of your books on Sunday (to the dismay of my better half as it was not a task on my to-do list that day! Oh well, he got over it!) and plan to pass some on to a niece of ours. Yes, I do think a read-a-thon is indeed in order!
So thank you and I look forward to whatever more you may write for those of us who have an affinity for your stories.
Best wishes and much happiness to you along your journey!

Dear Judy Bloom,
I've been reading your books since fourth grade. The first book I read was Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. Our teacher gave us books to read based on the series of Fudge/Farley Drexel Hatcher.By the way where did you get that name? Anyways, if my teacher would of not gave us your books to
read, I would of not fall in love with your books. Right now, I'm addicted to your books! I need more of your books. Please keep on writing.
Love, Jennifer
