I am an after school teacher.. I have been reading the fudge books everyday to my students. and now the entire class is hooked! it's so cute.. you should see how half of them now own the collection and they all enjoy reading your books during silent reading time.. My elementary teacher used to read them to me, now I read them to my students, and I get to do Fudge's voice, just like my teacher used to.. Thanks alot! we're big fans!

I had no idea that you existed until today! But then again I was Roman Catholic (you know - That sex thing :-)) and joined the Navy at 17 and basically lived overseas for a number of years. Not to mention that I am male!!
Your books and compassion towards young girls and women about their sexuality and maturing, is in my estimate "Outstanding"! I had the pleasure to be on the USS Vulcan (AR5) in Norfolk, Va. in 1977 until 1979. During this time I was a senior enlisted guy and happened to be on a ship that was the "test bed" (no pun intended) for women crew members. WOW! What an experience. The "Navy" said that nothing would change :-) - as you can imagine that lie created all kinds of problems. The "older" male sailors, by a large majority, did not take the transition well.
63 enlisted women (all E5 and below) and two Ensigns were initially assigned. As you can again imagine, there are numerous stories to be told about those first few years. Some humorous, most not!
Your knowledge and the fortitude to write honestly in the face of adversity are the tenants of strength I have followed throughout my life. It is not often enough to find a like soul in this short time we have.
This male appreciates the effort, honesty and humor you consistently bring to this table of life.
Hopefully, future young girls will be able to openly devour the stories you have brought to light. Those 65 individuals picked to report aboard the USS Vulcan in 1978 had no idea of the many challenges before them, their sex was without a doubt, the most challenging. As a Chief Petty Officer, (1 of 84 onboard) I was one of the few that didn't dismiss them as "superfluous". There are a few reasons for that, and some were, and still are, life changing experiences.

Dear Judy - What you've shared in your website has added fuel to my newly-emerging passion for writing.
I just finished reading "It's Not the End of the World." It's so from-the-heart and true-to-life, it made me cry in places and then laugh many times where you expressed Karen's take on the world around her. What's more, I quickly got so wrapped up in the story, I forgot I'm a senior citizen who started out reading it to learn more about writing mechanics and style. I couldn't learn more about writing from a full formal course. Thank you.

I would like to thank you for your stories.
As a child in school reading was very difficult for me. I had a tutor who read all my books to me so that I could do the reports that would be due after reading. This continued through High school. When I went to community college the college adviser and I were talking and he notified me that I have dyslexia and that was why I was having such a difficult time with my classes.
I managed to complete 2 and a half years of
Pre-Nursing liberal arts classes while I waited for an opening in the Nursing program when I was hired at a local hospital as a Nurses Aide. They offered on the job training and certification. I decided at that time that I'd quit college and see if in fact I wanted to make Nursing my career.
Now at the age of 47 I remembered my school friend reading your book "FOREVER" to me. I chose to look you up on the internet. I printed out the list of your books, I then started collecting all your books in order to read them.
I have now read almost half of your books starting with "Freckle Juice" only because I haven't found the rest yet; To teach myself to read better. Your books have made it fun to read, I just hope that I'll be able to find them all!
I wanted you to know how much your books have helped me. They are making me feel a lot more confident in reading and understanding what I have read.
My husband has been a big help also, He is patient enough to let me tell him about the stories. This helps to show that I not only read the books but that I am understanding and remembering what I read. This has been a problem in the past.
He has also been telling me how proud he is that I am reading at all. Not to mention remembering what I have read.

I have been a faithful fan since I was about six years old. I find your writing timeless and certainly ever-so-helpful for someone who grew up in a strict Catholic household. Needless to say, my favorite book growing up was "Starring Sally J. Freedman as Herself." "Tiger Eyes" was also a personal favorite as a teen studying Spanish, in addition to learning how it felt to came from a broken family as mine was and to this day still intact. As an adult "Summer Sisters" hit an especially difficult yet pleasing chord with me. Being born in the seventies, this book awoke in me feelings/memories I hadn't recognized in years and certainly hadn't validated maybe ever. Wow is all sometimes I can say for the range of emotions you have elicited from me as a child as well as a grown woman. I have read "Summer Sisters" more times than I know, yet every time I feel the newness of the yearning and pain "Vix" goes through with each year growing up. At the same time, I recognize "Caitlin" in myself as well as numerous friends. I find your books so absolutely relevant regardless of time period to children/young adults/adults as it is truly timeless in the core stories. As a fan of all of your books, I sincerely hope you continue to write new books for all ages, as your material is timeless and absolutely accessible to all ages. I thank you for all of your hard work and for your magnificent contribution to contemporary literature, American and subsequent translations.

I just finished reading Tales of Fourth Grade Nothing with my grade 3/4 class and they absolutely loved it. One of their assignments was to write you a letter and to tell you one of their own ideas for a sequel to the book. They also designed a cover for their book. I am going to send them all to the address on this webpage and I really hope that you get to look at some of them. The kids were ECSTATIC when I told them I was actually going to send them. I am a big believer in doing things in school for a purpose so sending the letters felt like the right thing to do. Thanks again for writing such a great book. Hi Judy, I still remember hearing my 4th grade teacher read "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" I was hooked. Your books are one of the best parts of my childhood memories. Now, I teach 2 nd grade and love to read your books aloud. My daughter is in 3rd and chose to be you at an author's wax museum activity. Words can't even describe how great of an author you are. Every time I read one of your books it makes me smile because, I'm sure you have fun while doing your job, and I have a great time reading your books. My favorite one is, " are you there god, it's me Margaret". It's just great because all of your books have real meaning to them and they are things that happen in life. Im reading superfudge i got to page 52 and so far fudge says m.a.i.n.e "spells princeton but peter says it spells maine stupid. my favorite part was when the parrot said bonjor stupid. my teacher is reading superfudge just like me and my best friend ever.
