Judy says: Thank you, thank you for all your wonderful notes. I only wish I could write back to each of you personally. But in order to start a new book I need serious thinking time, which means less time for e-mail. Hope you understand.
Just want you to know that my assistant and I read this guestbook every day, and try to respond when appropriate. Your continued love and support are a constant inspiration.

Hi Judy, I'm sending this letter for my school assignment. I understand that 3 of your books have been banned or censored, and my teacher thought it would be good if we sent letters to you. Our class is doing a project on banned books where we pick a book that has been banned or censored, and we make a poster and 2 essays explaining why it should and shouldn't be banned. I was wondering what you think about the book Fahrenheit 451, it's the book I picked for my project. I'm also wondering, how did you feel when your books got banned? Don't get me wrong, I love your books. I read "Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret" and loved it. It's cool how it also got turned into a movie. Anyway, you must've felt some sadness or anger when your books got banned right? In my opinion the reasons they got banned are kind of ridiculous, if people hate those kinds of themes that much just don't read it! Anyway it's cool that we can send you letters. Hope this reaches you!

Hi Judy,
Longtime fan! First book I read was Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret?
My birthday is coming up this week 10/22. First one since my Mom passed away July 25, 2026. With that being said, it’s going to be a tough one.
Trying to stay strong for my dad who will turn 90 in December. When I have some down time, I love reading your books.
Life is way too short but I wanted to say Thank You for being you!
Love,
Jan Marie 💜

Dear Judy,
I’m a 46-year-old journalist and mother of two from regional Australia, and I have some questions about Margaret Simon.
Like millions of girls, I grew up with Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. You guided us through puberty, periods, developing breasts and the extraordinary emotional upheaval of being eleven.
But Judy, what happened next?
Did Margaret marry Moose? Is he supportive? Does he understand the importance of not speaking to her during a hot flush? Has she embraced menstrual cups, or does she still regard feminine hygiene products with the same mixture of fascination and suspicion?
And what became of the bust exercises? Is there an updated chant for women whose nipples have been migrating steadily south for the past twenty years?

More importantly, has Margaret ever sat in her office chair on a Tuesday morning, wondering where her life went? Does she control the air conditioning, or is she also at the mercy of a 23-year-old named Aimee who insists the office is freezing while Margaret quietly boils to death?
Does she still question the futility of life? When her teenage daughter announced she was going to the neighbours’ house to run through the sprinklers, did Margaret feel the unmistakable weight of her daughter’s childhood slipping away, knowing there would be no more summers of little feet running through the house?
And where does she stand on cold brew?
These are important questions, Judy. You taught us that our changing bodies were normal, that our feelings mattered and that growing up was confusing for everyone.
But now we’re middle-aged, our daughters are going through puberty, our hormones are behaving like unsupervised toddlers and we’re discovering that nobody prepared us for the second half.
I don’t necessarily need another novel. Although I would absolutely buy Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. Again.
I just need to know that Margaret made it through her forties. That she’s happy, that Moose occasionally puts the dishwasher on without being asked, and that Nancy, Gretchen and Janie are still around to discuss the alarming developments in their respective breasts.
And perhaps, most importantly, does Margaret still talk to God?
Or has she reached the age where she’d prefer to speak to his manager?
With enormous affection and gratitude,
Emily Thompson

Hi Judy! A very old but enthusiastic fan of yours here who had to take a sec to thank you for forever changing my life. Are You There God and especially Blubber were so important to me, I can't tell you how many copies I owned and read voraciously! As a chubby girl who was painfully shy and unpopular Blubber was something I could understand in part and the ending...to this very day I still tear up about it. It meant so much to have a character to identify with, I hope other young people have and will have that same feeling of self identification and cherish it as well like I did. A million thanks from someone who ended up getting an English degree with a concentration in Creative Writing too!

Hi Judy
I read your book, tales of a fourth grade nothing and I loved it. My favorite part was when peter received a puppy and it was the cutest part. The book reminded me of my brother who is exactly like fudge and his name is lucas. He is also silly and naughty all the time and also loves playing with my stuff. My favorite character was peter because he was kind and always stood up for him and Jimmy. I think you should write more funny novels and I hope you have a good day.
